What are the functions of the skin? It keeps you warm or cool and prevents your body from losing too much water; it is where you feel cold, heat or pain and gives you your sense of touch.

3. What things can cause burns? There is a variety things can cause burns, such as hot liquids, steam, fire, radiation, the sun, electricity or chemicals. 4. How many types of burns are there and what are they? There are three types of burns, and they are called first, second or third degree burns.
