Stone Setting Bezel Setting Your Ring

1. Measure the bezel Take a piece of paper and wrap it around the edge of your stone to the EXACT fit. Mark it and cut it. Take paper and measure it to bezel Mark with sharpie Snip it

2. Make sure ends are straight and flat File straight if needed, using a flat needle file

3. Fit your ends No light should shine through Overlap and pull back for a tight fit Just like a band ring, only more delicate… kind of like a giant jump ring…

5. Pickle Just like the band ring, but with a smAller flame (little baby orange flame)! 4. Solder together

6. Shape the Bezel Push your stone through

7. See that the bezel is level Place flat on your base piece… If unleveled, gently sand the bottom edges of your bezel

8. Saw base to fit bezel 9. Put jeweler’s mark on bottom of base

10. Prepare to solder Flux Place 3-4 solder pallions on the inside of the bezel

11. Solder More heat- Bigger flame Start low, dry out solder, slowly move closer Make sure you are circling the bezel from the underside

QUENCH Quench in water… And THEN Pickle

12. Saw base to bezel Saw excess base Give yourself space You don’t want to cut the bezel

13. File base to bezel You now have your bezel!

Pencils Down Stand up and stretch… Do five jumping jacks… Rub your neck… Take a big yawn…

Pencils Down In your table, have the person who has the closest birthday to today, explain how you make a ring band… trust me, this part relates to what we are about to address… Pencils Up

14. Measure ring size 15. Cut half round wire to ring size 16. Treat it like a ring band- file and solder 17. Grind/file one small edge flat

18. Solder to base Place bezel upside down Flux Put ring band on top (filed edge on base) Place solder next to ring shank and on base Heat from top Hold ring shank in place if needed to prevent movement from heat

QUENCH Quench in water… And THEN Pickle

19. Place Stone

20. Bezel Pusher Start at twelve o’clock Move to six o’clock Then to three o’clock And 9 o’clock Continue to push in bezel in this pattern

21. Burnish Bezel Glide burnishing tool around the edges of the bezel to secure tightness
22
22. Buff and finish Buff ring shank on both wheels Only buff bezel on soft wheel
