3 2 v 1 (Flat) Ball carrier Space / pace / face Early pass on? Play it! D on passing lane? Do not force pass – wait for support run Ahead support on? Pass Ahead support blocked? Go to space Support Recognise blocked passing lane& lead ahead Relead to help through pass

4 2 v 1 (Narrow) Ball carrier Early pass or drive forward If passed early? Lead though (on outside) If driving forward ? Go to space Principles of flat 2 on 1 can apply Support Stretch (opposites?) If early pass threatened? Post up OR lead sideways Receive then decide (feel where defender is): – Bounce back (extra pass) – Pass flat to lead through – Roll and pass ahead to lead through – Roll to space If ball carrier driving forward? Lead behind on available angle Principles of flat 2 on 1 can apply

Drive forward to space Principles of 2 on 1 apply Support Early stretch If ball carrier NOT broken defence line : – Post up? – Lead sideways? Receive then play 2 on 1 with passer against back defender If ball carrier broken defence line? Lead ahead (on available angle) Principles of 2 on 1 apply

6 3 v 2 (Narrow) Ball carrier Pass early / drive forward If pass to nearer attacker? Lead through on outside If pass to further attacker? Find support position As play develops to ‘flatter’ 3 on 2? Ball carrier’s pass decided by watching position of BACK defender Supports Stretch / come in off line if ball with WH / set layers Make complimentary leads Post up? Lead wide? Higher support does opposite to nearer player If receiver? Pass early or drive to space If non receiver? Stretch ahead As develops?
