The Network for Black* Professionals The NBP is a social justice, not-for-profit, social enterprise that exists to promote the benefits of ethnic and cultural workforce diversity for the local, regional and national economies of the UK, and to increase the representation of black professionals at all levels of the UK workforce * Black – the term ‘Black’ is used to refer to members of African, African Caribbean, Asian and any other visible minority ethnic communities who may face racism

Black Leadership Initiative ® Professional development & training arm of the NBP Unequivocal emphasis on BME career progression Key recommendation of Commission for Black Staff in FE (2001) which was established following the publication of Macpherson Report (1999) Practical, positive action, high impact, demanding 42%-70% of participants realise career progression within 2 years
