Who is a paediatrician? A doctor that deals with sick children.
v A doctor that deals with sick children. The word paediatrician origanionally came from the Latin word meaning ‘healer of children’. Paediatricians often work hours a day in the hospital or in the community A career that is stimulating, challenging and is a rewarding area of medicine.

Difference between adult and paediatric medicine
Children cannot always express themselves Children cannot make decisions for themselves. Children have smaller body and physiologically different from that of an adult. Congenital and genetic defects often start in childhood

Why do we need paediatricians?
Asses children's growth and nutrition. Administer the appropriate treatment if necessarily Give Confidence to child's carers Asses impact of any illness or injury because if ignored can affect their development and their future
