A Family Carer is someone who, without payment, provides help and support to a partner, child, relative, friend or neighbour, who could not manage without their help. This could be due to age, physical or mental illness, addiction or disability.

PREVENTION: Enable registration on FACT through equality impact assessments Partnership working provides Control with up to date information. Home fire safety checks information for Family Carers keeps the community safe by addressing risks RESPONSE: Provide Fire Fighters with risk information e.g. home use of oxygen / medication. Information prior to arrival, to deal with situations sensitively and appropriately.

Was the information you received from the Fire and Carers Together scheme useful and appropriate? 497 Family Carers responded to a questionnaire with 396 stating they found FACT information useful and appropriate.
