5 Using “I” Messages An “I” message is a statement in which a person uses the pronoun “I” to express an opinion or statement. Using “I” messages is a very effective way to communicate. 1.It states the situation and how you feel about the situation. 2.It offers an explanation for your feelings. 3.It states what you need.
