Creek houses were made out of plaster, river cane walls and had thatched roofs. For ceremonies the Creeks had circular buildings. Some Creek villages had palisades (reinforced walls) to guard from attacks.

The traditional Creek dishes included soups with maize, beans, and squash. They usually had stews made with meat that they hunted. They usually had deer or fish. The stews and soups with meat were usually prepared over a fire. They used leftover maize to make cornbread.

Creek men’s main job was hunting. Sometimes they went to war to protect their families. Creek women were mostly farmers and did most of the cooking. They also took care of the young children.

o Creek men wore breechcloths and leather leggings. They usually didn’t wear shirts. o Women wore wraparound skirts and dresses. o Creek men didn’t wear headdresses. o In cool weather they both wore cloaks. o Creeks wore moccasins on their feet too.

Some teenage boys played a game called stickball, which is kind of like lacrosse. The Creek name for lacrosse is: afvcketv.
