2 War in the old northwest The Miami, Delaware, Shawnee and other native Americans came together to fight American expansion the biggest Indian victory came in the north west territory (Miami town, present day Fort Wayne, Indiana)

3 War in the old northwest Problems the Indians faced A. The British deserted them B. They faced a new U.S. Army the Americans defeated the Indians at the “Battle of Fallen Timbers” The Indians are forced to sign the Treaty of Greenville

4 Treaty of Greenville Made Indians give up the southern 2/3 of Ohio the Indians were also told that the Ohio river was no longer a permanent boundary

5 Native Americans dealing with the U.S. Accept white culture (Miami people/ little turtle) blending Indian and white Cultures return to Indian traditions take military actions

11 The Land war The U.S. will try to invade British held Canada The U.S. will be beaten very badly in Canada Jackson will lead the U.S. over the creek Indians at Horseshoe Bend this lead to the treaty of Fort Jackson the Americans got 23 million acres of land (Alabama and Georgia)

14 The War Ends The US will have a huge victory at Fort McHenry (star spangled banner) The Hartfor conventiuon states in the north east talked about leaving the union

15 Treaty of Ghent Both the British and the Americans realized this was a war that no one wanted and one that the british could not win’ on December 24, 1814 the treaty will be signed

16 The Battle of New Orleans The battle took place two weeks after the war was over 5000 British troops tried to take New Orleans Andrew Jackson lead the Americans

17 Post war Election of 1816 J. Monroe will win he is a Jeffersonian 1819 the first depression in the United States

18 Missouri compromise North west ordinance of 1787 Missouri compromise Missouri would become a slave state Maine will be a free state All states north of 36 30 will be free states
