2  Her Majesty's Royal Palace and Fortress, more commonly known as the Tower of London (and historically as The Tower), is a historic fortress in central London, England, on the north bank of the River Thames.

3  The Tower is located at the City of London, financial district, ot far from the River Thames and Tower Bridge.

4  At the centre of the Tower of London stands the Norman White Tower built in 1078 by William the Conqueror (reigned 1066–87).
