U.S. Botanical Garden Curiosity and an ability to recommend it to students led me there There is more than one type of Aloe plant… I assumed just one. Demonstrates the geographical differences of regions, but similarities in plant development and usage

Ulysses S. Grant Memorial Was at the end of the mall by me While it’s to “President” Grant, is a Civil War General statue He led Union forces during the Civil War, which we just finished studying

National Art Gallery An interest in art, or at least trying it Furniture can qualify as art Much of that furniture is classical pieces from Colonial America with intricate inlays

James Garfield Memorial Also at my end of the mall Again, to “President” Garfield, but erected by Civil War vets for his service While Garfield also led troops in the Civil War, he would later become president…briefly.
