NKJ 1 A Psalm, A Song for the Sabbath day. It is good to give thanks to the LORD, And to sing praises to Your name, O Most High; 2 To declare Your lovingkindness in the morning, And Your faithfulness every night, 3 On an instrument of ten strings, On the lute, And on the harp, With harmonious sound. 4 For You, LORD, have made me glad through Your work; I will triumph in the works of Your hands. 5 O LORD, how great are Your works! Your thoughts are very deep.

To declare Your lovingkindness in the morning, And Your faithfulness every night, Explanation Show forth (declare) thy loving kindness (goodness, mercy) ▪ In the MORNING, at daybreak ▪ Why loving kindness in the morning? ▪ Look back over the night ▪ Look ahead to the day and thy faithfulness (firmness, steadiness) ▪ Every NIGHT, all through the night ▪ Why faithfulness every night? ▪ look back over the day ▪ ahead to the night That means I’m surrounded.

On an instrument of ten strings, On the lute, And on the harp, With harmonious sound. Explanation By singing, showing forth (declaring) WITH ▪ Two or Three listed examples of musical instruments “Solemn sound” – resounding, harmonious, to the murmur of – other synonyms in Scripture for this word are: ▪ Plotting – Lam 3:62 ▪ Musing – ▪ Meditation – Ps. 19:14 Music that makes you think of God’s lovingkindness and faithfulness.

Explanation Why? “for” or “because” ▪ You have made me glad – brought me joy by your deeds ▪ I will triumph in the works of your hands – I cry out The Rest of the chapter ▪ Verses 6-9 – judgments on the Wicked ▪ Verses 10-15 – blessings on Righteous
