2  Pointillism in philosophy in a way reassembles the art form whereby a picture is formed by individual dots.  Is a technique of painting in which small distinct dots of pure color are applied in patterns to form an image.  Sometimes called Neo-Impressionism (although this term is used differently by different historians) or Divisionism.

4 Georges Seurat(1859-1891) the most well known Pointillist Artist in Impressionist and Post-Impressionist painters. Divisionism was founded by him style around 1884 as Neo-Impressionism drawing from his understanding of the scientific theories of Michel Eugene Chevreul, Orden Rood and Charles Blanc among others. Divisionism along with the Neo-Impressionism movement as a whole, found its beginnings in Georges Seurat's masterpiece called “A Sunday After on the Island of La Grande Jatte”. Georges Seurat

6  In his formative years, Georges Seurat's artistic direction differed greatly from his school. As a direct result the artist broke away from the school and headed to La Grande Jatte to live for a brief period. On the banks of the river Seine, the island represented a new type of modernity for leisure for some of Paris' wealthier citizens. The island inspired Seurat to paint perhaps the most notorious work of his short-lived career.

7  Georges Seurat spent over two years painting this. He reworked the original as well as completed numerous preliminary drawings and oil sketches. He would go and sit in the park and make numerous sketches of the various figures in order to perfect their form. He concentrated on the issues of color, light, and form. The painting is approximately 2 by 3 meters (7 by 10 feet) in size.
