General Register Office for S C O T L A N D information about Scotland's people Consultation point 12: Ethnicity 77 responses received in total Multiple questions within this consultation point Some misunderstanding of concept of national identity Preference for 2006 Census Test question over 2001 Census question Reasons given included removal of colour labels, more detailed breakdown of categories, more accepted terminology Where preference for 2001 classification was stated this was based mainly around continuity/comparability and concern about ability to monitor discrimination on basis of colour
