6. 6 Some Digital Library technical characteristics Multitude of document formats : PDF, DOC, ODF, XML, HTML, JPG, etc. etc. Multitude of meta-data sets : digital collections appear in all kinds of formats and are generated often on very local ('cultural heritage') structures Full-text retrieval : searching the libraries is done full-text on top of the meta-data fields OAI : world-wide web-based free availability

7. 7 ABCD : freedom of database structure The ABCD Central module allows to create (or copy) any database structure with its own fields, formatting and indexing definitions
