Didn’t communicate Housing Policy effectively with teams Never connected housing with registration Tried to make hotels enforce Stay to Play policy and tried to fine them for not doing so …even NON CONTRACTED HOTELS! Never provided team registration Would send nasty emails and call hotels if something went wrong
6
Housing URL was very difficult to find on Tournament Website Next to the Housing link there was a list of hotels plus phone numbers promoting to call direct Lack of communication of when teams would qualify (some after cut-off) Expectation that cancelled rooms should be refilled immediately NEVER met anyone face to face!
7
Legacy Event in destination so difficult for hotels to adjust to the housing system Hotels would decline reservations, accept cancellation request over the phone and selectively choose which reservations to accept in MMX Teams would book as soon as event dates became available direct with hotels
8
Accepted reservations directly and double booked rooms Didn’t want to pay rebate on direct reservations High turnover left many hotels without a MMX user Couldn’t/Wouldn’t provide accurate pickups to event Varied price points to teams Didn’t understand overall goals
9
Didn’t have accurate tracking of room nights Had no tournament accountability for the Stay to Play policy Didn’t have the staff time to run housing service full time Several hotels refused to participate because of unresolved issues from previous tournaments Event shrinking from competing Tournaments the same month
