Anxiety Disorders Anxiety disorder is a blanket term covering several different forms of a type of common psychiatric disorder characterized by excessive rumination, worrying, uneasiness, apprehension and fear about future uncertainties either based on real or imagined events, which may affect both physical and psychological health

GAD Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) is excessive worry. People with GAD can’t seem to get rid of their concerns, even though they usually realize that their anxiety is more intense than the situation warrants.

Panic Attacks Panic attacks are periods of intense fear or apprehension of sudden onset accompanied by at least four or more bodily or cognitive symptoms (such as heart palpitations, dizziness, shortness of breath, or feelings of unreality) of variable duration from minutes to hours

Phobias A phobia is usually defined as a persistent fear of an object or situation the affected person will go to great lengths to avoid, typically disproportional to the actual danger posed.

Social Anxiety Social anxiety is an emotion characterized by a discomfort or a fear when a person is in a social interaction that involves a concern of being judged or evaluated by others.

OCD Obsessive–compulsive disorder (OCD) is a mental disorder where people feel the need to check things repeatedly, perform certain routines repeatedly, or have certain thoughts repeatedly. People are unable to control either the thoughts or the activities

PTSD Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)- results from a traumatic experience. Post-traumatic stress can result from an extreme situation, such as combat, natural disaster, rape, hostage situations, child abuse, bullying or even a serious accident. It can also result from long term (chronic) exposure to a severe stressor. Symptoms may include flashbacks, nightmares and severe anxiety, as well as uncontrollable thoughts about the event.

Dissociative Disorders
Dissociative Disorders are conditions that involve disruptions or breakdowns of memory, awareness, identity, or perception.

DID (Multiple Personality)
Dissociative identity disorder (DID), formerly called multiple personality disorder, is a condition that is characterized by the presence of at least two clear personality states, called alters, which may have different reactions, emotions, and body functioning.

Eating Disorders Eating disorders are any of several psychological disorders characterized by serious disturbances of eating behavior

Pica Pica is an uncontrollable urge to eat nonfood substances such as clay, dirt, or paint

Anorexia Nervosa Anorexia Nervosa is a loss or severe diminish of appetite not due to physical problems (often is accompanied by anamorphic problems or the distortion of the body image)

Bulimia Nervosa Bulimia- a series of binging and purging of food as an obsessive act or abnormally strenuous exercise in conjunction with purging (often is accompanied by anamorphic problems or the distortion of the body image)

Binge Eating Disorder Binge eating disorder (BED)- a series of binge eating which include excessive food, eating rapidly or eating until nauseas (often is accompanied by obesity and depression), food is not fantasized about and may be thought of negatively

Impulse Control Disorders
Impulse-control disorders are thought to have both neurological and environmental causes and are known to be exacerbated by stress Some mental health professionals regard several of these disorders, such as compulsive gambling or shopping, as addictions In impulse-control disorder, the impulse action is typically preceded by feelings of tension and excitement and followed by a sense of relief and gratification, often- but not always- accompanied by guilt or remorse.

Kleptomania Kleptomania is the recurrent failure to resist urges to steal items that you generally don't really need and that usually have little value.

Pathological Gambling
Pathological Gambling is a person who cannot control their gambling habits and is similar to an alcoholic cannot stop once they have started. These people will gamble until they have nothing left without thought or reason

Trichotillomania Trichotillomania is a disorder that involves recurrent, irresistible urges to pull out hair from your scalp, eyebrows or other areas of your body, despite trying to stop.

Pyromania Pyromania is an impulse control disorder in which individuals repeatedly fail to resist impulses to deliberately start fires, in order to relieve tension or for instant gratification

Mood Disorders Mood disorder Mood Disorder is a group of diagnoses in the DSM- 5 classification system where a disturbance in the person's mood is hypothesized to be the main underlying feature

Depression Depression (major depressive disorder or clinical depression) is a common but serious mood disorder. It causes severe symptoms that affect how you feel, think, and handle daily activities, such as sleeping, eating, or working.

Bipolar Bipolar Disorder- is a mental disorder that is characterized by constantly changing moods, the person experiences alternating “highs” (mania) and “lows” (depression).

Seasonal Affective Disorder
Seasonal Affective Disorder- Some people experience a serious mood change when the seasons change. They may sleep too much, have little energy, and crave sweets and starchy foods. They may also feel depressed. Light therapy is often used in treatment

Personality Disorders
Personality Disorders are a class of mental disorders characterized by enduring maladaptive patterns of behavior, cognition, and inner experience, exhibited across many contexts and deviating markedly from those accepted by the individual's culture.

Paranoid Schizophrenia
Paranoid schizophrenia is a subtype of schizophrenia in which the patient has delusions (false beliefs) that a person or some individuals are plotting against them or members of their family.

Borderline Personality Disorder
Borderline personality disorder (BPD) is a pervasive pattern of instability in interpersonal relationships, self-image and emotions. People with borderline personality disorder are also usually very impulsive, oftentimes demonstrating self-injurious behaviors (risky sexual behaviors, cutting, suicide attempts).

Narcissistic Personality Disorder
Narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) is when a person is excessively preoccupied with personal adequacy, power, prestige and vanity, mentally unable to see the destructive damage they are causing to themselves and often others.

Histrionic Personality Disorder
Individuals with Histrionic Personality Disorder exhibit excessive emotionalism--a tendency to regard things in an emotional manner yet often lack actual emotion--and are attention seekers.

Dependent Personality Disorder
Dependent personality disorder is characterized by a long-standing need for the person to be taken care of and a fear of being abandoned or separated from important individuals in his or her life. This leads the person to engage in dependent and submissive behaviors that are designed to elicit care-giving behaviors in others.

Sexual Disorders Sexual dysfunction (or sexual malfunction or sexual disorder) is difficulty experienced by an individual or a couple during any stage of a normal sexual activity, including physical pleasure, desire, preference, arousal or orgasm.

Exhibitionism Exhibitionism is the act of exposing in a public or semi-public context those parts of one's body that are not normally exposed – for example, the breasts, genitals, or buttocks.

Fetishism Fetishism- Maladaptive sexual deviation in which individual achieves sexual gratification by means of some inanimate object or nonsexual part of the body

Pedophilia Pedophilia or paedophilia is when an adult or older adolescent experiences a primary or exclusive sexual attraction to prepubescent children, generally age 11 years or younger.

Sexual Masochism Sexual Masochism- Someone who gets sexual satisfaction through pain. Often called simply a masochist these people search out ways to hurt themselves or find people who are willing to hurt them

Sexual Sadism Sexual Sadism- Someone who gets sexual satisfaction by inflicting pain on others. Usually termed sadists

Voyeurism Voyeurism- achieving sexual pleasure from “peeping” at others usually when the other person is disrobing or engaging in sexual activities, they do not however want to personally engage with their subject instead they only want to watch
