Institutional Racism Israel Palestine Conflict
2
Their story… Members of Jewish Voice for Peace try to make a change around the U.S. in achieving a lasting peace for Jewish Israelis and Palestinians based on equality, human rights and freedom. They have old and young members. Their strategies differ between strategy meetings, art studio’s and Facebook blogs.
3
Their social analysis : JVP believes that the reason the Israel Palestine problem is occurring is because Israeli’s came into the land while Palestinians were already living there. They believe that the reason there is a lot of conflict about this because people don’t have a clear understanding of whose land it really belongs to. Their understanding of the problem stems from the founders of Israel who didn’t make a clear and equal decision of what the Israeli state should be like.
4
Their solutions and strategies. JVP believes that one way to fix this problem is by putting pressure on countries, like the U.S., with power to assist with the problem through means financial assistance. They also believe that putting pressure on Israeli’s and Palestinian’s to stop fighting would help too. They also believe that by joining Jewish voice for peace and donating monthly it could help stop the problem by expanding awareness.
5
Rhetorical Strategies Their website is very visually appealing, easy to get around, and includes a lot of social media which helps people share and connect easier.
6
Their capacity… The reason they have the ability to impact change is because they have a very large group of followers: “Today, JVP is a national organization closely connected to a growing grassroots base. We have 200,000 supporters on our email list, 10,000 individual donors, over 60 chapters across the United States, a staff of 25; a Rabbinic Council; an Artists’ Council; an Academic Advisory Council; a youth wing; and an Advisory Board consisting of some of the best-known Jewish thinkers of our time.”
7
Their vision… They believe that with help from their donors, along with help from other powerful countries the Israel-Palestine conflict will end. They believe that the more people are aware of the problem and socially talk about it, like share on facebook, twitter, Instagram, that the problem will resolve. Lastly, they believe that there are certain pressures that we ourselves can put on certain people and powers to help resolve the problem.
8
“Jewish Voice for Peace is a diverse and democratic community of activists inspired by Jewish tradition to work together for peace, social justice, and human rights. We support the aspirations of Israelis and Palestinians for security and self-determination.” “People are dying to end the conflict.”
