Getting kids to school safe, on time, and ready to learn…every day. Student Transportation Durham School Services
2
Contract Agreement Proposal Just as in 2009-10 Durham will agree to hold the current rates as charged for the 2009-10 school year flat and forego the 2.2% increase as previously outlined. This will result in an estimated $64,000 savings for the 2010-11 school year. As indicated we did not increase our rates last year with the renewal so this offering further reflects our commitment to the Topeka Public Schools and the elements surrounding the funding shortfalls that this district is experiencing.
3
Contract Agreement Proposal Due to the fleet vintage age extension, the district will continue to receive the monthly credit which equals $86,000 for 2010-11 and ending in 2011-12 as outlined in the agreement.
4
Contract Agreement Proposal We also plan to reduce the spare buses from 8 units to 6 units. This will result in a savings of $8,000 per bus or $16,000 for 2010-11.
5
Contract Agreement Proposal With routing efficiencies and optimizations that won’t be obtrusive to bell time or schedules with our current service levels, we plan to eliminate one route bus for 2010-11 which will provide an additional savings to the district of $28,000. Should further reductions be possible more savings could be made. Any routing change will be submitted and approved by the district prior to any change being communicated.
6
Contract Agreement Proposal Previously, the district has requested Durham to equip the buses with crossing gate arms. This has not been done yet and Durham has agreed to pass that savings/cost back to the district as a one time savings of $22,500. While we are willing to give up that cost, we are working with one of our national account vendors to see about still putting those cross gates on the fleet of buses at our cost.
7
Contract Agreement Proposal The total student transportation savings for the 2010-11 school year is expected to be around $216,500. All of these changes are outlined in a new 5 year agreement with the Topeka Public Schools USD #501.
