2. Stephen F. Austin First Anglo-American Empresario,
Was put in prison in Mexico City for over a year
Chosen as leader of Volunteer army after the Battle of Gonzales
Later sent to the United States to secure supplies, support, and volunteers to aid in the Revolution

3. Lorenzo de Zavala
Native Mexican who had helped write the Constitution of 1824
Escaped to Texas when Santa Anna took the powers of dictator
One of few Native Mexican Delegates to the Convention of 1836
Selected as the Vice-President of the ad interim government
May have been the Most Wanted man by the Mexican Government

4. Juan Seguin Native of Mexico Fought at Battle of Gonzales
Led scouts during the siege of San Antonio
Led his unit into the Battle for San Antonio on Dec 5, 1835
Was with Travis and the men at the Alamo in 1836 until he was sent to get more volunteers at Gonzales
Later served at the Battle of San Jacinto

5. William B. Travis Agitator and member of war party
Sent to San Antonio by Governor Smith to reinforce Alamo
Commander of the Texan forces at the Alamo
Pleaded for help from Col. Fannin and any others who would listen, but was denied.

6. Jim Bowie Legendary adventurer
Mexican citizen who was sent to San Antonio by Sam Houston to assess the situation t the Alamo and destroy the fort if it was not ready to defend
Stayed in San Antonio and enforced the Alamo
Commanded the Volunteer army at the Alamo until illness forced him to give Travis full command

7. Davy Crockett Legendary adventurer who was famous in his own day
From Tennessee, came to Texas wit a group of Volunteers to aid the revolution
Had fought in the Creek Indian Wars in the South and became a legend for tale of his many adventures in the Tennessee wilderness

8. James Bonham Friend of William travis, From South Carolina
Died at the Battle of the Alamo
Travis’ messenger who sought help for the men at the Alamo
Rode through enemy lines to fight and die with his friends

9. Sam Houston Delegate to the Convention of 1836
Insisted that Texans at the Convention create a constitution to structure the government before rushing off to fight Santa Anna
Elected Commander and chief of the Regular and Volunteer Army
Led the Texans through the Revolution and later served as the First and Third presidents of the Republic of Texas

10. Richard Ellis Elected as President of the Convention of 1836
Led the Convention that created and signed both the Texas Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the Republic of Texas

11. David G. Burnet
Selected as the temporary president of the ad interim government of Texas
The ad interim government was to serve until proper elections could be held after the fighting
