Heat Resistant Pillow Anthony B. 12 Fairfax Virginia

Think it ● I want to solve the problem of pillows trapping body heat which increases perspiration inside a pillow. I want to create a pillow that has airflow, puff, and also softness when you lay on it, even after hundreds of uses. My problem affects half to most of the people in society today. It will be most useful while you sleep and lay on it. Also with deceasing heat, I might be able to also decease stress with the materials used inside my pillow. ● www.wired.com

Explore it ● The Chillow and MyPillow are other great inventions other people have created to help reduce heat (The Chillow) and to reduce stress (MyPillow). I want to make a pillow that is both soft and cool while you lay on top of it. ● Two or three years ago, I had a Chillow and used it everyday. After a couple of uses the foam inside of the Chillow started to crumple up and it made it really uncomfortable to sleep since you were just sleeping on plastic, with a wet foam ball inside of it. ● kellysthoughtsonthings.com www.taylorgifts.com

Sketch it ● I want my invention to stop heat convection inside a pillow. It will, firstly, block out any heat from entering, creating a cool environment and secondary, it will be soft and fluffy so you can sleep better and faster. The light blue is water The green is linen The dark blue is cotton The black Is Polyester The gray is flour

Create it 1) I will, firstly, get my materials: polyester, linen, cotton, water, plastic flexible water bottle, plastic wrap, flour, tape, and sewing equipment. 2) Pour the water into the bottle, close it, and wrap it with plastic wrap; so the condensation will be trapped inside, not exposed. 3) I put plastic wrap on the ground, put the bag on-top of it, and pour flour around it. Then wrap the plastic around it and seal it like a bag. 4) Then I sew the linen and polyester together and sew that into a pillow case shape. Next I put cotton inside the case and later put the bag of flour inside it that. 5) I sew it shut and test it out. Size: About 10x8 Inches.

Try It www.gearlive.com subdivided_we_stand.typepad.com Sadly, to test to see if my invention actually works I need to buy a thermal imaging camera, which measures amounts of heat in a designated spot. If I had a thermal imaging camera this is what I would do. 1) I would put a Costco bought Hollander pillow made out of %100 polyester onto my bed and lay on it for about 1 hour. I would later get up, turn on my (thermal imaging) camera and record the heat on the pillow, my head, and the rest of the bed. 2)I will record the results and do the same thing to my pillow, but this time I will wait until my bed and also my head are at normal temperatures. 3)I will compare the two pillows and see if there is a major difference in heat. I would say 10-40 degrees is a good change. 4)If there isn't, then I would tweak my invention until It finally works. If it never does then I would find another Idea to cool my pillow.

Tweak It When I was building my pillow I noticed a major flaw, that the plastic wrap rips when I put a lot of flour onto it, It got really irritating after a while. So then I got a Ziploc plastic bag and put the flour and water bottle into that and to my suprise, it didn't tear. So I used that. Another flaw I found was that I didn't have and linen to start with. I found this 100% polyester/rubber table cloth. I will use this until I get my linen, but if it does good, I might put it inside my invention.

Sell it ● I will name my pillow “ The Sleep o' cool Pillow” If I do have my invention patented the first thing I would do is put advertisements in the newspaper & magazines such as Time Magazine and The New York Times. I'll sell it at Walmart, Bed & Bath Beyond for about $10- $20. If needed I would sell it at selected Dollar Tree stores. If sales have in increase I would make commercials to make my product go viral. I will create the slogan “ The Sleep O' Cool pillow, tiredness it is at rest. This is how I would sell It. www.saltlakemattress.com
