Church Planting Alliance Discussion InterChange 2014

‘Now get up and stand on your feet. I have appeared to you to appoint you as a servant and as a witness of what you have seen and will see of me. I will rescue you from your own people and from the Gentiles. I am sending you to them to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’ Acts 26:16-18

Three Kinds of Plants go into the Field…. A “SEED” - A planter lands in the field on their own. A “START” - The seed is nurtured by developing a key leader, developing a team from that church, and sent into the field. A “SHOOT” - Some trees grow from the roots of another tree but remain connected. In some cases, a Greenhouse Church will send out “shoots” to a new community and a ministry will develop. This may take the form of a Venue or Multi-Site situation that is closely connected with the supporting church. II. DEVELOP REGIONAL PLANTING PARTNERSHIPS

These three kinds of plants can include many models… Many Cultures & Generations - all kinds of churches Many Models - traditional, missional, house, etc. Fresh Starts - helping declining churches have new life II. DEVELOP REGIONAL PLANTING PARTNERSHIPS

III. EXAMPLE OF HOW ONE CHURCH FOLLOWS PATHWAY

1) Recognize that we already have many “Greenhouses” in the Alliance! 2) Complete regions and appoint all regional coordinators. 3) Gather regional coordinators to discuss pathway/strategy and form partnerships. 4) Help regions set up team structures for A.C.T.S., Greenhouse Training, etc. 5) Form “Greenhouse Curriculum” Team to research and provide the best possible resources for our Greenhouse Churches. Some of our best practices will come from Alliance churches who are already doing a great job as a Greenhouse. 6) Encourage regions and districts to gather willing lead pastors to discuss concept. 7) Begin training willing local churches. Bless them for any efforts to reproduce. IV. A FEW POSSIBLE NEXT STEPS

Suggestions for local churches who want to become Greenhouses: Evaluate your "Planting Pathway." What is working well? What must you implement? What do you already have in place for the following areas? Take inventory of upcoming leaders. - Who are they? How old are they? - Are there “apostles” in your church? Do some people naturally rally others to start things? - Are any pursuing ministry? - Who and how are you challenging leaders to take the next step? Have potential leaders take the online pre-assessment tests: - CHURCH PLANTING: Churchplanterprofiles.com - choose free test or thorough $99 test. - APEST: www.fivefoldsurvey.com - ALLIANCE LICENSING: www.called2serve.org and complete form under “next steps.”www.called2serve.org IV. A FEW POSSIBLE NEXT STEPS

10 Suggested ways for ANY CHURCH to help a church plant right now. 1) Select a planting couple/team from your area and pray for them. Feature them in your media. 2) Send a planting couple out to dinner/overnight as a gift from your church. Pay their childcare too! 3) Pick a planting couple and financially support them. (One time or monthly...ANY amount helps!) 4) Pick a church plant and give them a one-time gift. (Could be financial...but doesn’t have to be!) 5) Hold a “baby shower” for a church plant and give them gifts for their startup. (Office supplies, etc.) 6) Invite a planter to share his vision with your board/church. Invite them to preach. Yep, preach. 7) Partner with other area churches in planting a church. (Call some pastors and see if you can help). 8) “Adopt” a plant in your area and send volunteers to help once a month. 9) Send team members from your church to participate in a plant. 10) Send a planter and team from your church. IV. A FEW POSSIBLE NEXT STEPS
