Plan Your 2012

Background Our four schools are part of an INSPIRE mark project to promote Olympic/Paralympic values and awareness of London 2012 through foreign language learning.

Together, we have been awarded a Plan Your 2012 grant to further this work

Coombe Road Primary Olympic Passport Our children have all been given a ‘passport’, where they will ‘collect’ sports which they will try in the lead-up to the Olympic games.

Olympic Values We use the Olympic and Paralympic values as part of our PSHE curriculum- each week we give an award to children who display one of these values- they are displayed in our school in English and French- they all took part in the Brighton and Hove poster competition to design a multi-language poster showing one or more of the values.

Brighton and Hove Torch Relay We have 58 schools involved in our torch relay. It started out from Coombe Road Primary on Monday 12 th March, and will have been to all the schools involved by the time it returns to us on 16 th July- the day the official torch arrives in Brighton and Hove.

Each school will find an inventive way to pass the torch on- and they will present it with the words Here is our torch – pass it on in friendship - in one of the 47 languages from the language sack which is accompanying the torch -
