Monitoring Profile  The objective is to ensure information support for administrative decisions aimed at mitigating consequences of an accident resulting from radionuclide transfer outside Exclusion Zone.  Radionuclide flows that form public and personnel exposure have priority for surveillance. 10. CONCLUSIONS 1. Today’s main challenges of ChEZ management comprise sanitary and radiation monitoring. 2. Environmental radiation monitoring allows generating new knowledge about:  Physicochemical transformation of radiation contamination;  Transport of radionuclides in the changing environment;  Fluctuation of radiation and hydrochemical factors. 3. Environmental radiation monitoring is a powerful tool for:  Development of decontamination and remediation technologies;  Development of methodology for environmental studies of radioactively contaminated ecosystems. 4. With introduction of certain improvements, the environmental radiation monitoring can provide valuable data for long-term prognosis, modeling and research.
