Future Directions facilitation, not clinical service delivery area based pharmacotherapy networks local knowledge and an ability to facilitate strategic partnerships to affect change strong leadership and sound strategy a whole system approach incorporates a systems integration approach /partnerships enhance clinical support in the network area and facilitate close working relationship with addiction medicine specialist

Pharmacotherapy network area teams a team structure in each of the five network areas configured to include existing resources (which may need to be realigned to better fit the model) and new resources exact team composition may vary depending on the specific needs and requirements within each network area structures will be further informed by the submissions received as part of the tender process executive/ leader role in each of the network areas, will manage the team and budget, and lead a strategic response to the specific needs identified in the network area

The case for change Victorian Pharmacotherapy Review findings Referral pathways – will support pathways between specialist and primary care and promote shared care into service operations Insufficient treatment places – support to service providers, with strategies to recruit new prescribers and dispensing pharmacies (greater spread and coverage with lower caseloads) Workforce development – new training, strengthening addiction medicine specialisation, including scholarship funding Quality of care – focus on pain management; promoting clinical guidelines to assess stability for unsupervised dosing
