CURRENT TRENDS IN THE EMPLOYMENT AND INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS IN MNES IN ASIA Do MNCs get any special concessions compared to domestic companies in your country? Special Concessions on: Land Rates Tax concessions Infrastructure concessions like Power, Water etc. Management policies regards to: Consultations with workers: Most of the workers are not permanent and hence denied labour rights. Dealing with Unions : MNES does not respect the worker rights by promoting pro management based UNION and denying genuine UNIONs under Labour laws. Right to Organise and Collective Bargaining rights: It is Constitutional to organise but MNEs are not bound to collective bargaining.

Impact of Globalisation and Liberalisation Govt. policies favour the MNEs Poor Consultation Mechanism,Political will power and Intra-union rivalry What are the three main priorities of Trade Unions in your region ? Widen the existing social security net and bring a comprehensive social security scheme for all workers including unorganised sector. Campaigning for inclusion of Right to Work as a fundamental right in the constitution of India. Extension of re orientation of Education system.
