Oktober Ten days that shook the world https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x0QAjpeosgU Oktober was one of two films commissioned by the Soviet Government as part of a propaganda campaign to mark the 10 year anniversary of the October Revolution. It is one of the first films used as propaganda after the first world war. This type of editing was adopted by Hitler during WW2 to influence the masses.

Task 1 Research the soviet Montage and the effect this type of editing has on political promotion. Find some political adverts from the past 10 years which could have used the soviet montage effect Upload these images / YouTube clips and CRITCALLY discuss why you think this technique has been used and to what effect

Task 2 In groups of three, create a short sequence showing something that would be ‘impossible’ to film without effects or CGI. Using a montage of images you must suggest to your audience that this has happened. (for example, in the Psycho shower scene you cant actually stab your actors!) Import your sequence into Premiere and individually edit it to music. Give it a title ‘Film Montage’ and upload it to your weebly site Along side this add an explanation detailing what type of effect montage editing has had on Hollywood movies

Task 3 Individually find examples of montage in films from todays Hollywood. Import clips into weebly. Give you work the title ‘Modern Montage’ Critically discuss the use of Montage from 1915 up to modern day Hollywood. CRITICALLY discuss how it has changed and the impact it has on the audience.
