Peristalsis: Smooth muscle movement in the digestive system. Chyme: mixture of food and gastric juices in the stomach. (looks like a milk shake) Digestion: breaking down food into usable pieces. Absorption: the process of nutrients moving from the digestive system to the blood stream.
