+ Successful Practices Cover vocabulary prior to lecture Remind students of resources like: Not writing everything down (PARAPHRASE!!) Doesn’t have to be complete sentences (def. of crawling) Keep them legible to use to review Focus on finding the KEY POINTS discussed

+ Symbols and Abbreviations (use also when reviewing essential vocab- TDZ, FBI)

+ Verbal Cues slowing down and/or changing pitch of voice given examples, numbers or list points when written on the board Statements like "this is important” or “this will be on the test” Remind them: Notes serve to record information for recall and should show the main points of the lecture in an organized manner so that the relationship between points and details are distinguishable. Be sure to use phrases that show relationships, summarizes, concludes, connects, compares and contrasts
