YIN & YANG ARE RELATIVE OPPOSITES All that exists can be described as yin and yang Every thing is in relation to something else, like day and night Physical activity is yang (daytime) rest is yin (night time). The health of the universe and human beings relies on the continuous, shifting, cyclical movements of these relative opposites.
3
YIN & YANG ARE INFINITELY DIVISIBLE Things change depending on what is happening around them, e.g. a candle when lit; the flame is yang and the candle yin If this candle were then placed in a dark room the whole candle would be yang but if placed next to a fire the candle would be yin next to the greater yang of the fire
4
YIN & YANG ARE INTERDEPENDENT Yin cannot exist without yang and vice versa, no light without dark, no contraction without expansion Just as the earth needs rainfall (yin) and dryness (yang) to survive, the relationship of these two energies are vital in the body.
5
Yin & Yang consume and support each other YIN & YANG CONSUME & SUPPORT EACH OTHER The balance between yin and yang is not fixed but a continually moving, shifting dynamic interaction, night consumes day, summer consumes winter. If one becomes weak it cannot support the other. If one becomes excessive it may over consume the other.
6
YIN & YANG TRANSFORM INTO EACH OTHER As in Inhalation/exhalation. Or Activity followed by rest. To continue functioning, all energy systems must achieve a balanced state of equilibrium between input and output.
7
Balance is harmony All diseases and disharmonies are due to an imbalance of yin and yang energies within human beings. If yang becomes deficient the person will manifest symptoms associated with yin, such as weakness and coldness as yin appears dominant. If yin becomes deficient then yang symptoms will manifest such as feeling hot and agitated with difficulty sleeping.
