2 Mission Statement The mission of the Pender Public School District is to provide quality educational opportunities in a safe, positive learning environment that motivates and challenges all students to become productive and responsible citizens.

4 Social Studies Text Book Adoption Social Studies text books are due for replacement Working with Kellen Conroy at ESU #1 for the review process Review committee includes Greg Conroy, Josh Warren, Brianna Carda, Rae Brown, Dayleen Liakos, Amy Bargholz, Sheila Dahlman, Eric Miller, Kelly Ballinger Next meeting is Wednesday, June 17 @ 10:00 a.m. Using an evaluation instrument designed by ESU #1 which includes evaluation of content, teacher support, student support, assessment, supplemental resources, technology usage Timeline includes: – Teacher Evaluation of Texts/Publishers (ongoing) – Selection of text/publisher (by June 17th) – Bring recommendation to curriculum committee (late June) – Seek approval for textbook adoption (July board meeting)

5 Special Education Reading Curriculum K-6 Special Education classroom (Mrs. Swinton) has been using the Reading Mastery curriculum. Reading Mastery is a research based K-6 direct instruction method that provides specific, targeted interventions in the area of reading, decoding, and comprehension. Corrective Reading is the 7-12 partner curriculum for Reading Mastery. Presenting a purchase order for $8,613.17 to McGraw Hill for the purchase of the Corrective Reading/Decoding programs. This program will be used in our 7-9 resource room (Mrs. Maise) and 10-12 resource room (Mrs. Nelson). Will provide consistency in service and programming for our special education department.

7 2015-2016 4-5-6 Departmentalization Megan Nixon (Writing 4-5-6) Dayleen Liakos (Social Studies 4-5-6) Luke Hoffman (Math 4-5-6) Tara English (Science 4-6) Kari Athey (Science 5) Each teacher will teach their own guided reading/treasures reading.

8 Summer School Kira Swinton, Tab Albus, Kim Hoffmeister, Tiffany Beckman and Richelle Wendte are conducting summer school. We have one credit recovery student. 9 students are eligible/participating for ESY special education services (including 4 preschool students). Monday-Thursday 8:00 a.m. - 12:00p.m. June 8-11, 15-18, 22-25 July 6-9, 13-16, 27-30 Jump Start School August 3-6, 10-13 9:00-11:00 21 students recommended by elementary teachers Invitations to Jump Start will go out the end of June

9 Handbook Changes/Updates Changes to the 2015-2016 elementary handbook will be presented in July.

10 Elementary PRIDE Pendragon PRIDE program was a huge success! Plan to continue the program next year Recognized 144/219 students Recommended by teachers/administration Or the best part…by other students
