Recap….start your search with “Knowing You” Reflect – Take time to think about what you have learned from your career journey thus far – likes/dislikes, preferences, work environment Build Your “Assessment File”– Gather feedback you have already gotten (performance reviews, assessments) and review Outline Life Themes– Tie together your assessment input into themes that carry into your search (descriptive statements, enduring patterns) Craft Your Career Objective – Write out your detailed goal of what you want to do and where you want to do it
24
Develop a well-informed career objective I am seeking a position in planning and strategy. This might include strategy consulting, a planning and strategy position in a corporation or even a business development position if strategic planning were the principal component. I would prefer a major, established firm that has a reputation for high integrity. Geographically, I would prefer a medium size city on the East Coast. I want to work in a teamwork environment with individuals that seek and respect diversity. I need to be in a new position within 6-9 months or earlier if possible. Sample Career Objective
