The work continues: Six new co-operation projects were launched this year by STAKES in the Federation of Karelia, St. Petersburg and the Leningrad area, Russia. Focus is on promoting health and supporting the AIDS centres. Projects are co-financed and there is an active participation by both countries

National Research and Development Centre for Welfare and Health Knowledge for welfare and health International Development Collaboration11 Prevention of social exclusion of children and youth at risk in schools in Nevsky District, St. Petersburg, 2005-2007 Project purpose: Improved capacity of specialists and authorities to prevent social exclusion of children at risk Expected results: ‒ Multisectoral, horizontal and vertical collaboration in the administration ‒ Increased competency of school staff to work with risk group children in pilot schools ‒ Early intervention model developed and implemented in pilot schools ‒ Cooperation between Finnish and Russian specialists developed by networking and creating links between schools in both countries ‒ Cooperation between authorities and NGOs enhanced by involving NGOs into the project
