7 Storytelling School The basic idea is simple: learning to tell stories from memory is a great way to learn all sorts of essential skills. Children who fill up with stories by listening and retelling create an inner store of language, ideas and imagination. They will then draw upon this store in their work and life. Speaking, listening, confidence, empathy, ideas, facts, sequences and plots. Using drama, games, art, poetry Most storytelling schools start off with oral tradition stories, as they are usually the most easily told. Once mastered, storytelling techniques can then be applied to non-fiction, literary stories, biography, history, and geography … to almost anything where there is a sequence to be learned..

8 Drama for Writing Drama for Writing is a method of teaching, trialled over many years to develop pupils ability in reading, writing and analytical thinking through their enjoyment and practical engagement in well structured Dramatic activity. Anna Carter

16 Garden Room Provision originally set up to support the underachieving white British boys. Group for approximately 12 children with an emphasis on literacy skills. Garden Room follows the pattern, events and natural activities of the calendar year. The emphasis is on short, relevant, bite-sized chunks of learning all with a practical basis, using the benefits of outside learning where possible. These activities will link directly back to target led literacy learning.
