How to Make Laundry Soap Easy and Cheap!
2
Ingredients 1 bar of Fels Naptha Laundry Soap, grated, approximately $1.79 1 cup of Arm and Hammer Washing Soda (not baking soda), $3.99 1 cup of 20 Mule Team Borax, $2.99 1 5-gallon bucket, with lid, total cost about $6.00 4 cups of water, heated in a large saucepan or pot Enough hot water to fill the bucket Total outlay to start making soap: about $17.00
3
Begin by heating the 4 cups of water on the stove. Bring to almost boiling, then stir in the grated soap. Continue stirring until the soap has melted.
4
When soap has melted, stir in the borax and washing soda. Continue stirring until it is completely dissolved.
5
Fill the 5 gallon bucket halfway with hot tap water. Then add the soap mixture and stir well.
6
Fill the rest of the bucket with hot water, then stir again. Cover with a tight-fitting lid and allow to stand for 24 hours.
7
Then open the bucket and stir well. It will be very lumpy, and that is OK. Pour into a clean, used liquid laundry detergent bottle or any other large, sturdy plastic jug that is suitable for liquid. Twist the lid on tightly and shake well before each use. This detergent is safe to use in High Efficiency and front-load washers as well as top-loaders.

Your new laundry soap is safe for the environment and good for your wallet! Happy Laundry Day!
