2 Food Chain  Events in which one organism eats another.

3 Producer  An organism that can make its own food.  Plants

4 Consumer  An organism that obtains energy by feeding on other organisms.

5 Decomposer  An organism that breaks down dead organisms. (Bacteria & Fungi)

6 Primary Consumer  Consumers that eat producers.  Example: rabbit

7 Secondary Consumers  Consumers that eat primary consumers. Third Level Consumers  Consumers that eat secondary consumers.

8 Food Web  A pattern of overlapping food chains in an ecosystem.

9 Food Chain Practice  Create a food chain using the following organisms: –grasshopper, hawk, grass and snake  You must use arrows.  You must label the: –producer –primary consumer –secondary consumer –third level consumer.
