The student will be able to… Have a feeling of control by acquiring the skills for stress management. Express optimism in his/her life when dealing with stress. Demonstrate stress relieving techniques. Differentiate between stressful situations he/she can and cannot control.

What is it? Why is it important to understand?

STRESS… Our body’s and mind’s reaction to everyday demands. Our body’s physical and emotional reaction to circumstances or events that frighten, irritate, confuse, endanger, or excite us. Can be both positive and negative.

Why is understanding stress important? If we better understand the stressors in our lives then we will better understand how to appropriately manage them. This is known as stress management.

Time Management… Involves specific strategies for planning your daily activities in an effective, healthy way. It is important to prioritize: decide which tasks are more important than others. Stress management requires time management!

Ask Yourself… What are the most important things you will do tomorrow? How much time will you devote to those activities? What will you do to relax? How much sleep will you get?
