2. Packing Containers Bag: May be made of strong paper, linen, canvas, rubber, etc. Sack: A large bag of strong, coarse material for holding objects in bulk, commonly used for powder and granular materials. Carton: Made of light but strong cardboard or fiberboard, widely used in export packing because it is light, cheap and resilient. The carton is double walled or triple walled.

3. Case: A strong container made of wood used for small, heavy items. Box: A small case, which may be made of wood, cardboard or metal. Crate: A slatted wooden case not fully enclosed, used for storing or shipping, usually used for large and heavy objects like machines. Drum: A cylinder-shaped container for carrying liquids, chemicals, paint, powders, etc, made of metal, wood or cardboard.

4. Bale: A large package of raw or finished material tightly bound with twine or wire and often wrapped. Can: A usually cylindrical metal container. Bundle: A group of objects held together, as by tying or wrapping.

5. Container: A large reusable receptacle that can accommodate smaller cartons or cases in a single shipment, designed for efficient handling of cargo. Used to transport goods by road, rail, sea or air. Pallet: A portable platform used for storing or moving cargo or freight used to hold a number of packages or pieces.

6. Packing Mark In order to identify the packages easily at the port of destination, the outer packing must be clearly marked with the identifying symbols and numbers in accordance with the instructions of the customer. We have three categories like shipping mark, indicative mark and warning mark.

However, we have the following suggestions: 1 ． Our packing with cartons for ready-made garments has been widely accepted by our overseas clients. Our double wall corrugated cartons are lined with polythene sheet and reinforced by plastic straps to protect the goods from moisture or possible damage in transit. We can certainly use triple wall corrugated cartons if you still insist but there will be extra charges.

15. 2 ． For inner packing and marking, we shall follow your instruction. If you accept our proposal, each garment will be packed in a plastic bag first and then in a box with transparent window, 4 dozens to a double wall corrugated carton lined with polythene sheet. 16. Example 3 :Confirmation of Packing and Shipping Marks Dear Sir, We’re in receipt of your letter dated March 12 inquiring about the packing and shipping marks of the goods under the S / C No.GB568. We’d like to confirm as follows: All powders are wrapped in POLY bags and packed in tins, the lids of which are sealed with adhesive tape. Twenty tins are packed in a wooden case, which is nailed and secured by metal strap. Please see to it that as machine parts are susceptible to shocks, they must be wrapped in soft materials and firmly packed in seaworthy cases to avoid any movement inside the cases. 23. Text b: describing a container service Dear sirs, Thank you for your inquiry of 20 November regarding our container service. The shipping containers we provide are of two sizes, namely 20 ft, and 40 ft. They can be opened at both ends, thus making it possible to load and unload at the same time.

24. For carrying goods liable to be spoiled by damp or water they have the advantage of being both water-tight and air-tight. Containers are loaded and locked at the factory, rendering pilferage impossible. When separate consignments are carried in one container if their ports of destination are the same, there will be a saving on freight charges, and an additional saving on insurance because of the lower premium charges for container-shipped goods.
