Location Italian Peninsula A peninsula is surrounded by water on 3 sides. (Florida) Shaped like a boot.

Mountains Apennine Mountains Run down the center of the peninsula. Not as rugged as the mtns. in Greece.

Seas Right in the center of the Mediterranean. Land travel was easy Sea travel was hard (few good harbors)

Farm Land Full of fertile farm land Didn’t “need” to trade much with other groups.

Volcanoes Several volcanoes on the peninsula. Most are now extinct. Vesuvius
