Some examples of water landforms: lakes streams oceans These are bodies of water on top the Earth’s surface

Important fact for landforms… They are nature made not man-made. Which one is a landform? Which one is man- made? (Made by man’s hands?)

We are going to learn a few landforms…

Mountains are areas of raised land.

Valleys are areas of land between or at the bottom of mountains.

Hills are areas of land that are raised but curved.

Plateaus are areas of high land that have steep, flat sides.

Plateaus are areas of high land that have steep, flat sides.Remember…. You can put a plate on the flat top of a plateau.

A plain is flat, “plain” land.

An island is surrounded by water on all sides.

A peninsula is land surrounded by water on 3 sides.

A volcano is an opening, or rupture, in the planet’s crust. The opening allows hot molten rock, ash, or gas to escape from below the surface.
