Sharing Of Praises and Concerns Pastoral Prayer

62 “All the Way My Shepherd Leads Me” All the way my Savior leads me; What have I to ask beside? Can I doubt His tender mercy, Who thro' life has been my guide? Heav'nly peace, divinest comfort Here by faith in Him to dwell! For I know whate'er befall me, Jesus doeth all things well; For I know whate'er befall me, Jesus doeth all things well.

62 “All the Way My Shepherd Leads Me” All the way my Savior leads me; Cheers each winding path I tread, Gives me grace for ev'ry trial, Feeds me with the living bread; Tho' my weary steps may falter, And my soul a-thirst may be, Gushing from the Rock before me, Lo! a spring of joy I see; Gushing from the Rock before me, Lo! a spring of joy I see.

62 “All the Way My Shepherd Leads Me” All the way my Savior leads me; Oh, the fullness of His love! Perfect rest to me is promised In my Father's house above; When my spirit, clothed immortal, Wings its flight to realms of day, This my song thro' endless ages: Jesus led me all the way; This my song thro' endless ages: Jesus led me all the way.

“To Be A Serious Jesus- Follower, There Are Some Things You’ll Have To Give Up.”

INTRODUCTION Taking Jesus Seriously Means:

I. You'll have to give up empty promises.

And a scribe came up and said to him, "Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go." And Jesus said to him, "Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head." Matthew 8:19-20 (ESV)

Then Jesus told his disciples, "If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. Matthew 16:24 (ESV)

II. You'll have to give up lame excuses.

Another of the disciples said to him, "Lord, let me first go and bury my father." And Jesus said to him, "Follow me, and leave the dead to bury their own dead." Matthew 8:21-22 (ESV)

III. You'll also have to give up limited faith.

And they went and woke him, saying, "Save us, Lord; we are perishing." And he said to them, "Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?" Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. Matthew 8:25-26 (ESV)

You can pray for anything, and if you have faith, you will receive it.” Matthew 21:22 (NLT)

I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours. Mark 11:24 (NLT)

When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples. This brings great glory to my Father. John 15:8 (NLT)

You want what you don’t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but you can’t get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them. Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it. James 4:2 (NLT)

IV. We must give up mixed-up priorities.

Now a herd of many pigs was feeding at some distance from them. And the demons begged him, saying, "If you cast us out, send us away into the herd of pigs." And he said to them, "Go." So they came out and went into the pigs, and behold, the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea and drowned in the waters.

The herdsmen fled, and going into the city they told everything, especially what had happened to the demon-possessed men. And behold, all the city came out to meet Jesus, and when they saw him, they begged him to leave their region. Matthew 8:30-34 (ESV)

Conclusion Taking Jesus seriously means that we have to let go of the things that hold us back.

O soul, are you weary and troubled? No light in the darkness you see? There's light for a look at the Savior, And life more abundant and free! Turn your eyes upon Jesus, Look full in His wonderful face, And the things of earth will grow strangely dim In the light of His glory and grace. 320 “Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus”

Thro’ death into life everlasting He passed, and we follow Him there; Over us sin no more hath dominion--- For more than conquerors we are! Turn your eyes upon Jesus, Look full in His wonderful face, And the things of earth will grow strangely dim In the light of His glory and grace. “Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus”

His word shall not fail you--- He promised; Believe Him, and all will be well: Then go to a world that is dying, His perfect salvation to tell! Turn your eyes upon Jesus, Look full in His wonderful face, And the things of earth will grow strangely dim In the light of His glory and grace. “Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus”

Benediction
