Advantages of the program u Reduces minor discipline office referrals by a minimum of 25%. u Creates a win-win solution. u Fewer fights. u Teachers have more time to teach. u Creates a sense of caring and peace on campus. u Students learn a lifelong communication and problem-solving skill.

Types of sponsors u Teachers or counselors who are both respected by the faculty as well as the students. u A teacher who could possibly have peer mediation as his/her duty. u A teacher or counselor who truly wants the position.

How to select a team u Have a brief introduction to the program at a faculty meeting. u Have the teachers announce the program in class, and have students nominate themselves or others. u Teachers and counselors should nominate also. u Have the sponsors review the list of nominees and select six per grade level. u Select a diverse group of students.

Training u Select four students to be team representatives. u Have them, as well as the sponsor attend the training on September 20, 1997. u One of the sponsors must be present with their students

Definition of Mediation Friendly or diplomatic intervention, usually by consent or invitation, for settling differences between persons, nations, and so forth.

Customer Requirements u State the needs of the audience u Confirm the audience’s needs if you are not sure
