12.  The goal of Engineering school is to become a licensed professional engineer (PE)  It is not required to have a license; however you must have a license in order to offer services to the public and sign official documents.  In America, each state has their own engineering licensure.  Most states require engineers to take the Engineering Fundamentals Exam (FE)
