Introducing ProTrace Training documentation ‘06 | 4 Notes 4

ProTrace NSP Architecture NSP Server ProTrace Workstations CCM LAN / WAN based on IP Acquisition System xMF IXP Training documentation ‘06 | 5 Notes Acquisition system All the IAS core part : acquisition servers (IMF, PMF, …), xDR processing servers (IXP), storage servers (IXP, xDR DataWarehouse, …) Weblogic & Oracle server It is the main NSP server, Weblogic is the framework for the NSP platform, while Oracle Data Base contains all its configuration. Workstations End-users computers, with web browser installed 5

ProTrace - Configuration Steps Training documentation ‘06 | 6 Notes 6

ProTrace - Configuration Steps The work of the administrator will be done through NSP CCM tool Network Views definition Session View (Sessions aggregate) OR Link View (Links aggregate) Training documentation ‘06 | 7 Notes 7

Networks Views - Sessions View Creation Training documentation ‘06 | 8 Notes 8

Sessions View Creation Launch the Centralized Configuration Manager from the NSP portal Open the Network Views section and left click on « Sessions View » Add a new Session View List the existing Sessions Views Refresh the Sessions Views list Training documentation ‘06 | 9 Notes 9

Sessions View Creation Enter a name for the Session View and an optional description Select the type for the session view. It can directly include sessions or a lower level Session View. If the Sessions View type is selected you will create a Session View aggregate Training documentation ‘06 | 10 Notes 10

Sessions View Creation For type « sessions » you have to select the sessions to include. Click on “Select Sessions” icon Training documentation ‘06 | 11 Notes 11

Sessions View Creation To select desired sessions the Session Selector Filter tool is provided. Note that you can directly display the whole session list by clicking « Apply Filter » 1. Select a specific Dictionary 2. Check IXP as Storage Type 3. Select the Site where the session is located 4. Click “Apply Filter“ 5. Select the relevant session(s) 6. Click select to add the session(s) to the list. Training documentation ‘06 | 12 Notes 12

Sessions View Creation When the filter window is closed, selected sessions are displayed. It is then possible to delete or to add some new sessions. At this step you can both click « next » to see a sum up of the session view configuration or click « done » to confirm directly the creation. Training documentation ‘06 | 13 Notes 13

Sessions View Creation Once the session view are created, you can easily display the sessions involved by clicking on the session view cross in the left menu. Training documentation ‘06 | 14 Notes 14

Sessions View Aggregate Creation If you select the type « Network Views » the Session View will act as a container, which contains other Networks View. In that case, you’ll have to select existing Sessions View to include them into your Sessions View Aggregate. Select a Session View and add it to the list Training documentation ‘06 | 15 Notes 15

Sessions View Aggregate Creation The new Sessions View Aggregate contains both existing Session View When used with ProTrace every sessions embedded in the low level sessions view are queried. In this example when you use SessionViewAgg sessions BSSAP, ISUP, MAP and CAMEL will be considered. Training documentation ‘06 | 16 Notes 16

Networks Views - Links View Creation Training documentation ‘06 | 17 Notes 17

Links View creation Open the Network Views section and left click on « Links View » In the same way as for a sessions click « Add » to create a new Links View Training documentation ‘06 | 18 Notes 18

Links View creation Enter a name for your Session View and an optional description When choosing « link » type different options are available : SS7 Linksets, Gb Links, IP Streams : These open a selector with a « Link Selector Filter » tool to help you finding the desired links. SS7 Linksets and Gb Links : This option open a browser selector for choosing SS7 linksets and Gb Links in the same time. Training documentation ‘06 | 19 Notes 19

Links View creation Define your filter with Linkset selector Filters Or directly click “Apply Filter” to display the whole list of linksets. Select the required linksets Click Select to add them to the list Training documentation ‘06 | 20 Notes 20

Links View creation It is possible to mix different type of Links in each Links View SS7 Linkset, Gb Links or IP Streams Click “next” to display a sum up of the Links View configuration or “done” to confirm the creation immediately. Training documentation ‘06 | 21 Notes 21

How does it work The Links View elements are designed to consider a limited bunch of Links among the whole configuration. When using a Links View with ProTrace, Queries and Traces will be performed only for Calls or Transaction carried by the Links defined in the Links View. ProTrace knows the xDR sessions which contain the Links defined in the Links View, and performs the queries on this sessions only. Links View takes advantage of the configuration information contained in the IXP DataSources in the CCM to determine the sessions to query. Links view can only be used with NG xMF (PMF, IMF3) Note : Links view feature is available only with NG equipments, which are configured entirely through CCM. Training documentation ‘06 | 22 Notes 22

DataSources and sessions association To use Links View the IXP DataSources should be associated with sessions they are feeding. This is done in the CCM. This configuration should be done during implementation of the platform. Double check that it has been done properly on the system. Go in IAS Elements Left click on the IXP application level Click Datasource Training documentation ‘06 | 23 Notes 23

DataSources and sessions association Click on the “Associate Sessions” button It opens a selection tool to choose the sessions to assign to the current DataSource. Select the appropriate sessions and click “Done” to confirm. Training documentation ‘06 | 24 Notes 24

Lesson Review Q - What is the difference between Sessions view and Links View ? Q - What is a network view aggregate ? Q - What is Links View used for ? Q - What is the tool used to set up Networks View ? Training documentation ‘06 | 25 Notes 25
