Education *Frida attended the prestigious National Preparatory School in Mexico City *She was one of thirty five female students in a class of over 2,000 *It is here that she first met Diego Rivera, although they were not formally introduced until later.

The Accident of September, 1925 *Frida was involved in a serious bus accident where a bus was hit by a tram car. *She suffered from a broken spine, pelvis, foot, and collarbone. She was not expected to live. *She became a semi-invalid and was rendered incapable of pursuing her medical aspirations. It is a result of this that she became an artist.

Her Life with Diego “ I suffered two grave accidents in my life. One in which a streetcar knocked me down…the other accident is Diego.”

Immediately following the accident, Frida began painting portraits of her family and her close friends. Portrait of Sister Cristina, 1928
