What is Kappa Delta Pi? -Famous members: Albert Einstein, George Washington Carver, Eleanor Roosevelt - An international honors society in education -Promotes fellowship among those dedicated to education -The name comes from the Greek words Knowledge, Duty, and Power -There are 600 chapters with more than 40,000 members -A way to get involved in local service in Oxford and Cincinnati -A great tool for after college when you go into the field of teaching (KDPi provides great resources and even scholarships) -A way to gain professional development/educational experiences -A great resume builder and something to talk about in an interview Welcome New KDPi Members!

New members: need 15 points to be initiated into KDPi in the spring Initiated members: need 10 points to remain in KDPi Meetings=1 point Adopt A School/Tutoring= 2 pts Student Teaching= 4 pts Going to speakers= 1 point Book Donations= 1 point for 5 or fewer books and 2 points for 6 or more books. Going to Rothenberg to deliver books= 3 points Friday tutoring= 3 points per tutoring session Basket donations= for donating items you will earn 2 points Putting together baskets= 2 points Delivering baskets= 3 points Points

-Our Fall service project donates books (for all ages) to Rothenberg Prep Academy (a school in need in Over-The-Rhine/Cinci). -We are still collecting donations in the education offices on the 2nd floor and 4th floors of McGuffey! Bring as many books as you can back from Thanksgiving break! -We have postponed going to Rothenberg to deliver books from this Friday to December 10th. A google doc sign up will be sent out. -Points for book donations: 1 point for under 5 books donated 2 points for over 6 books donated Points for going to Rothenberg: 3 points Please label your book with a sticky note and your name! Gobble Up Good Books

Rothenberg is one of the last public elementary schools remaining in Over-the Rhine - A large percentage of students qualify for the Free Lunch Programs - A part of the students receiving Free Lunches are homeless - During winter break these students do not receive proper nutrition and necessities that they often would get from the school How can we help? KDPi will be collecting items to create baskets to give to the students who are homeless. We need your help with the following: - Donations - Making the baskets - Delivering the baskets (to be determined) - Spread the word! We need as many donations as possible. -Flyers will be handed out with items that are accepted! -Please think about donating a laundry basket as well! We will be delivering the baskets with the books on December 10th. Holiday Basket Drive with AFC

This is when the new members will officially become initiated into KDPi! New members need 15 points by April 27th to be initiated. Seniors will also be recognized and get their graduation cords! April 27th, 2014 at 11am in the Shriver Heritage Room Come for good brunch food and end of the year fun! This is a mandatory event for everyone. KDPi Initiation Brunch

Dues: KDPi has an annual membership fee of $42. New Members: Dues are not due until you are initiated in the springtime. You will pay online. The benefits you receive from KDPi will last a lifetime!
