3 Track Bag Extra clothes-warm, hat, gloves, sweatshirt, socks, T-shirt, etc. Rain gear Spikes or competition shoes (extra dry shoes) Towel Extra food/drink Personal items

5 SHOES Thursday March 3, Spike Night at: – Foot Traffic, Sellwood location – Portland Running Company, Beaverton location Check with Event Coach to know what you need for shoes Please do not buy training shoes at Dick’s, Washington Square stores,etc

7 COMMUNICATIONS LO High School Track website is main form of communication Your kid needs to be empowered to talk to coaches. If there is a problem or concern your athlete needs to talk to coach

8 EATING/WATER Try and stick to a balanced nutritional diet. Water-stay hydrated. Each needs to have their own…do not share Athletes need fuel…

10 PRACTICE 3:00 to 5:00-5:30 everyday, maybe some Saturdays Attendance- athletes are expected to be at practice and meets and should communicate with their event coach if they have a conflict (i.e. making up a test) Need to have sweats/ rain gear in cold and wet weather Tell them to have extra clothes in backpack Please make practices and meets a priority

11 MEETS League Meets on Wednesday Invites (4) on Fridays/Saturday, Laker Invite, Willamette Falls, Centennial, Jesuit (varsity only) JV Districts and Varsity Districts then State (varsity only) LO Track website for additional info. Meets start at 3:30 start 3-4 hours long

12 SCHEDULE Practice Meet at La Salle before Spring Break No official practice during Spring Break. Event coaches may schedule times to meet Concussion Testing for Pole Vaulters

13 MEETS 15 Individual Events + 2 Relays 53 varsity positions Each meet we can enter 3 varsity, unlimited JV Each athlete can enter 4 events in any combo (1 Var + 3 JV, 3 Var + 1 JV, or 2 Var + 2 JV) Our team goal: each athlete does 3-4 events Team meeting at end of meet-celebration Busses to and from away meets Stay to the end of the meet, ride the bus home Kids driving themselves-with signed signature Coaches cannot release an athlete to go home with another parent without written permission Parents can sign their athlete out AT THE BUS at the conclusion of the final event

14 SCORING Dual meets 145 total points 73 wins 1 st =5 points, 2 nd =3 points, 3 rd =1 point Relays are 5 points for 1 st, 0 points for 2 nd Invitational's scoring is usually 8 places 10-8-6- 5-4-3-2-1 Varsity has a TRL Dual Meet Champion and a TRL District Meet Champion

15 RECOVERY & REGENERATION Recovery is just as important as the workout Training includes Smart Recovery Eating-”Window of Opportunity”-20 minutes after practice-Chocolate Milk best recovery drink Sleeping – minimum of 8 hours per night Time Management-Stress, Homework, Grades Icing hot spots or ice baths Massage Stretching-Dynamic (before competition), Static (after competition), Compression (foam rollers)

16 UNIFORMS Issued: Singlets, shorts, sweatpants, jacket Cleaning directions but please to not dry the singlets and shorts (melt) Order Spirit Wear (Nike) through Eastbay. Please order team t-shirt at a minimum. Must turn in same number, cleaned and in the bag at Awards Night Spandex shorts: must buy your own through Spirit Wear (Nike-Eastbay) National rules-school issued or DQ’d
