Do Now Hand in “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings” questions Get into groups for song activity. You will have about 15 minutes to practice. Requirements: About 16 lines and/or 30 seconds (minimum) Everyone is somehow involved It should sound like a SONG, not just like reading a poem You do NOT have to memorize anything Hand in one sheet of lyrics with all group members’ names

You can ask questions like… How does this character change throughout the story? How would the story be different if told from a different point of view? If taken place in a different setting? How is this theme revealed throughout the story? How does the author use dialogue/imagery to enhance the story? Compare/contrast this text with another text on a similar topic. Which text more successfully communicates the message and why?
