Any Last Minute Questions?
23
Looking ahead to next week Final Project is Due Seminar is on SETI – This is the last seminar. Discussion on genetic mutations
24
A little more on the final project 1500 words 250 points (25% of your grade) First part – using the scientific method Second part – how has this course changed your view on science?, how do you use science?, could you not use science for one day?
25
Top Five Mistakes you Don’t Want to Make Be Under the word limit – this puts you in the C category (minus 50 points) Not analyze two scenarios using the scientific method Not answer all the questions in Part 2 Not use spell check or edit paper ( major grammar and spelling problems also put you in the C category a few put you in the B category) Plagirize – this is a 0 – Kaplan University uses turnitin.com
26
Using the Rubric – What is the difference between and A and B paper? You are “successful in using the scientific method” to describe the two scenarios versus “demonstrating an ability” to do this -Make sure you do two scenarios -Choose your second scenario carefully -Use correct terminology and put it in your paper -i.e. I hypothesize that …. -Give more than one hypothesis and show how you would or did test it -Make sure you make a conclusion
27
Using the Rubric – What is the difference between and A and B paper? What is difference between “full” and “good” demonstration? -Make sure you spend some time on this – don’t short change it -Give multiple examples in different areas of science -Don’t just list, explain

Annoucements How to Search for and Find Scientific Literature Do you have an assignment coming due and you’re not sure how to gather relevant information? Where do you turn? When you find something, how do you review and utilize the information for your paper without risking plagiarism? Join us in this workshop to gain valuable insight on the process and get ready to submit an excellent assignment. Hosted by Daudi Langat Friday, February 24, 8:00 – 9:00 pm ET

Annoucements Unit 9 Project Overview The Unit 9 project in SC300 is your chance to show all that you have learned throughout this dynamic course. Science is certainly all around you, and you’ll want to show how in your final project. Would you like to pass some ideas by an SC300 instructor? Do you want to make sure you are on the right track? Join us for this informative and helpful seminar and get a head start on your final project. Hosted by Erin Lawrence Thursday, February 23, 2012, 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm ET
