Government In America: the federal government: carries out the roles assignment to the federation of individual state. In China: the federal government: city government takes a rule for each city. 2

Family Structure In America: Small family: parents and the children In China: Small family: parents and a child. ( We can have only child in each family.) Some families live with their grandparents too. 3

Meal times &Etiquette In America: Prefer the convenience of eating in front of the TV. Fast food, very popular In China: Many people stay home eat food with TV. 4

Shops In America: Big Box Stores: Wal-Mart, Target, Home Depot, Lowe’s-What the customers need available in one place. In China: you can buy many items in one big supermarket. 5

School Requirements In America: 13 years including Kindergarten In China:9 years including first grade 6

Money In America : Dollar bill, coins(quarter, dime, nickel, penny) In China: RMB bill, coin( one dime, five dime, one RMB) One dollar = 6.6RMB 7

Sports In America: have five major sports: Baseball, American Football, Basketball, Hockey, and Car Racing. In China: have five major sports: Table Tennis, Running, Tennis, Soccer, Basketball. 9

Face/Reputation In America: Come and go overnight and in the end usually does not matter. The end results is more of the focus. A person is more likely to overlook a reputation to get the job done. In China: Leaders and most people think reputation is very important. 12

Recognition of the Dead In America: Most Americans are immigrants who either have lost the information on grave locations or the locations are in foreign countries. In China: We don’t remember the day of the our ancestors died. No one would want to immigrate to China, I think because China already have too many people. 13

Morality lesson In America: morality, like good thinking or good behavior for people are learned from their parents or school in USA. In China: morality, parents teach morality lesson in school once in two weeks. 24

Relationship between teacher and students In America: -very friendly attitude-no uniforms unless private-not too rules of formality in public school. For example, the students never stand up when the teachers enter the room. In China: -very bad relationship- students must wear uniforms every day. 25

Extra activities in school In America: numerous activities like clubs, sport, and students council available. In China: No gym in school. Students have gym class outside. There aren’t many extra activities in the school. 26

vacation In America: three months of vacation in summer, and almost two weeks in Christmas. In China: two months of vacation in summer, and one month of vacation in Chinese new year. 27
